History of Tea

As the story goes, tea was initially discovered by the Chinese emperor in 2737 BC. The emperor was boiling water when a plant’s leaves accidentally fell into the water. He drank the concoction and immediately fell refreshed. Later Chinese and Japanese monks started drinking this beverage to help stay awake as well as meditate. From them it spread across the world.

The scientific name of this beverage is Camellia Sinensis. Genuine tea comes in four varieties – black, green, white and oolong.
